Anxiety Rising

from Endless Summers by Peter Arvidson

A little hot in these britches
Hot temperatures reaching the high digits
Triple at least, at least that's what it seems

I could turn on a fan or AC
But I don't want to ruin the flow you see
You'd hear some background noise
And other toys, and forget the void

Avoid the void
Avoid the void
Don't think about it

Anxiety feelings are rising
All throughout the horizon
And those monkey mind thoughts
They trip them breakers in my circuitry

Well, I don't know if I want tea or coffee
But it's hard to say, or refreshing dream
Refreshing things are the only things I think about

They rise to the top of my brain
And they feel like I'm going insane
In sync or some sort of different way

I wait for it, that feeling to calm me
It never comes through and I quickly grab my blanket
And I'm like, wrap it around
The thunder comes down and I feel around
I feel my mind racing back and forth
My heart beats faster than it was before
I'm feeling like I'm freaking out inside
No one knows if I'm really alive

I feel that anxiety rising
Feeling hot with the monkey mind
Thoughts they drip, I am, I am
I am with unity

Where is the information circuitry?
Firing around in my brain you see
In the back, to the front, to the top, to the side
I need to calm down inside

I don't know where my mind's at
I don't know where my kind's at
I don't know where they bite back

My mind takes a baseball bat...
